Lugano + Bellinzona, Switzerland 10.25.07
Here's another post from Asti:

We drove through the Oberalpass on our way to Lugano and Bellinzona. Typically it is closes down in the winter...we can see why. It was a beautiful and thrilling drive, with lots of switchbacks and steep roads. Oh...we also got a free upgrade to an automatic car (Thank God!).
The castles of Bellinzona are a UNESCO world heritage sites. The Castle Grande (built 1100s) is located within the Old town. In this picture, a plaza/ parking garage was added to the complex. Restoration and addition to Castle Grande was done by Aurellio Galfetti in the 1980s.

Castle Montebello (1400s) was another one we visited, now houses an art and history museum. The hike up was strenuous!
Lugano's breathtaking waterfront. Perfect weather...
Lungano city, with some Botta buildings.
